As a reminder during the unexpected closure, Belle Fourche School District is processing applications from affected households based on their current income. An application approved at this time will be in effect until the 30th school day of the next school year. Because of the uncertainty for affected households and when they will receive their next paycheck, a new Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals may be completed. All other household income must be included on the application. The link for this application is: http://www.bellefourcheschools.org/images/SY19-20ParentPacketRev9-3-19.pdf Please mail the completed applications to: Belle Fourche School District 9-1, 2305 13th Avenue, Belle Fourche, SD 57717. Contact Brenda Whetham (Brenda.Whetham@K12.sd.us) at the Central Office or call 605-723-3355 x 4 with questions. You may contact the South Dakota Department of Social Services to process SNAP, TNAF, and FDPIR applications. Remember to bring your children (ages 0-18) to the Middle School Lunchroom from 10:00am-12:00 noon on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for free breakfast and lunch sack meals.

Governor Noem has ordered all schools in South Dakota to be closed until May 1st. The Governor will reevaluate the Coronavirus situation at that time.  If you have a question concerning your child's distance learning homework, please contact their teacher first, then the building principal.  Free Grab and Go meal pickup for children 0-18 years of age will continue at the Middle school Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Remember to wash your hands for a least 20 seconds, use hand sanitizer regularly, and take care of each other.

Belle Fourche Schools will be closed all next week.

All materials for working from home need to be picked up on Monday, March 23rd, 8 to noon. Kindergarten-4th grade materials will be at South Park, Middle School materials at the Middle School and High School materials in the lunchroom.

All Belle Fourche School Districts teachers have used this week to prepare for learning to occur at home, either through e-learning or packet work.

On Monday, March 23, from 8:00 am to noon, the Middle School will be open for 5th - 8th grade students to come in and collect their computers, cords, and sack breakfast and lunch. Online instruction should begin at home on Monday as soon as you are ready. We plan to continue our online instruction until the Governor tells us that our emergency school closure is over.

High School students that need to pick up items may do this in the High School main lunchroom from 8 to noon on Monday, March 23. Not all students will have items to pick up. Please check your Schoology accounts and the BFHS Facebook page for more information. Deadline for local scholarships for seniors has been extended to April 3rd.

K-4 teachers have prepared work packets for every student that should be picked up from the South Park office lobby from 8 to noon on Monday, March 23.

Students receiving special education services will be contacted by special education staff next week regarding supports.

Note: All kids, ages 0-18, can continue to pick up free breakfast and lunch throughout this week from the Middle School lunchroom. This will take place from 8 to noon on Monday, March 23, and then from 10:00 am to noon for the remainder of the week.

The Belle Fourche School District is approved to serve free breakfast and lunch sack meals to ALL children (ages 0-18) that present at the Belle Fourche Middle School Lunchroom from 10:00am -12:00 noon each day of service. One or both sack meals must be picked up by the children themselves, not the parents.

On Wednesdays, each child that presents will receive TWO breakfast and TWO lunch sack meals to provide for Wednesday and Thursday meals.

On Fridays, each child that presents will receive THREE breakfast and THREE lunch sack meals to provide for Friday, Saturday and Sunday meals.
