8th GRADE:

Quilt Squares:  During the language arts Human Spirit Unit, students learned about various historical people who showed powerful human qualities such as bravery, leadership, kindness, and loyalty.  Students then chose a person to honor who demonstrates great human spirit.  Choices ranged from family members to presidents to musicians.  Students designed paper "quilt squares" with a quote, picture, and an explaiantion of how the person chosen is worthy of this honor, as well as the original border.  Indiviual quilt squares were combined to make a larger paper quilt.
